Cookies...

have been keeping me away from my blog!  Yep. Cookies.  You see, Chickadee signed up to be a Brownie this year so I signed up to be a co-leader for her troop.  This is our troop's first year of Girl Scouting unless you count the years that I and our leader were in Girl Scouts.  Anyhow, this time of year is Girl Scout Cookie sales.  That means that every weekend Chickadee and I have been standing out in front of stores selling Thin Mints, Caramel Delights, Shortbread, Lemonade (my favorite), and all the other Girl Scout cookies.  During the week I've been counting cookies, depositing money and trying to catch up from the weekend.  It's not glamorous  but it has been fun and of course the girls are having a blast.  Thankfully this coming weekend will be our last cookie weekend.

I was shocked at how little profit the girls make for so much work.  And I was shocked to learn that each troop has to buy the cookies they sell.  That means that we have to buy the cookies to sell at our booths.  Since this is our last weekend we're hoping to sell out of everything so we don't lose money paying for cookies we couldn't sell.  So, if you see any Girl Scouts selling cookies in the next couple of weeks buy a box or two.  Otherwise you'll have to wait until next year for that box of Thin Mints.
